Women Who Drum is a collaborative project that brings together percussionists and musicians from diverse musical backgrounds. Built on shared listening and collective creation, the project focuses on collaboration rather than hierarchy, allowing each artist’s voice to shape the music.
Through trust, exchange, and experimentation, the ensemble creates performances that are fluid and evolving. Each set is shaped in the moment, making the music feel present, responsive, and alive.
Each edition of the collective brings together artists from diverse musical traditions, creating dynamic live experiences shaped by dialogue, groove and sonic exploration.

She Speaks in Rhythm (premiered at the Mahindra Percussion Festival) is a performance shaped by women who speak through rhythm, sound, and musical exchange - sometimes in time, sometimes out of turn. The set reflects moments when women express themselves through timing, pattern, and pulse, when they choose to move beyond what is familiar or expected, expressing ideas and emotions that are not always spoken aloud, but deeply felt.
Rather than relying on volume or spectacle, the performance explores rhythm as something melodic, emotional, and expressive. Patterns shift subtly, grooves take unexpected turns, and voice and konnakol are treated as music in their own right. Silence, texture, and groove coexist, allowing the music to unfold organically and invite deeper listening.
At its core, She Speaks in Rhythm invites audiences to step out of line - to experience percussion and sound not just as rhythm, but as narrative, texture, and lived expression.
